As Google’s web search continues to be boring and filled with AI weirdness (I would have no problem if it were boring *and worked*), I continue on my mission to demonstrate that there are a lot more ways we could be building search spaces.
I spent the last few days building datasets for it, then today put together a tool that has you enter a city/state and receive a list of TV stations and universities in that city’s DMA (Designated Marketing Area, basically metro area.) Select up to 25 of these institutions and turn them into a Google search with the query of your choice.
It’s *very* interesting to be able to specify a particular area and then do searches for things like “immigrants business” and “tariffs” and “climate change.”
There’s still another dataset I want to add but I’ve put up what I’ve got so far if you want to play with it: https://searchtweaks.com/ls/
